The hits keep on coming!

My sincere apologies for the lack of updates, there's been so much going on, and yet nothing much in a way.

The biggest news is that we are welcoming in 5 new wrestlers for next year from the early decision period. There will be much more news on that topic later. We had hoped for a few more, but we are unquestionably excited about the direction and future of the program.

Forgetting the future for a moment, the present has been much more difficult. After beginning the year with a roster of 17, we have dwindled down to 8 active wrestlers. The injury bug has been all over us and does not seem to want to let up. The worst part is that none of our current injuries happened were W&L wrestling related. Very, very frustrating. This makes for a very difficult dual meet season, as we are now giving up 4 forfeits each match. That is almost impossible to overcome, but I believe in the guys we have in the room and there is no doubt in my mind that we will win a majority of our individual matches and finish 5th or better at the Conference tourney, matching the program's best finish ever.

We leave today for sunny Pittsburgh and wrestle Washington and Jefferson, Muskingum, and Gettysburg tomorrow at 1pm at W&J.

A reminder to all readers that the W&L Invitational is next Saturday, beginning at 10am in Lexington, and we will be honoring Head Coach Gary Franke, who's entering the final two months of his distinguished head coaching career. I hope you can make it out and support the Generals and Coach Franke!
