Here is my conference preview:
I think there is a good chance we will have 1 in the finals, and there is a legitimate shot at getting 3. Seeding meeting is Friday night and will be very important for our sophomores. Ersing could be a major underdog/dark horse, as his win/loss record is deceiving since he wrestled at 133 for the first half of the season, and is incredibly difficult to beat a second time in a season. Seeding here is going to be very, very important. Campbell hasn't lost to any of his conference competitors, but didn't wrestle 3 of them due to snow. He is currently on a 12-1 streak, with the only loss to top 8 ranked Garber of Waynesburg. Theoretically he should get the 2 seed, but seeding never works theoretically. He could end up as the 2, 3, or 4 seed depending on the arguments of the coaches involved. A rational decision would be the 2 or 3. 4 would be ridiculous. Dennis has no losses in the conference as well, and pinned the 2-time defending conference champ. It should be a no-brainer that he is the #1 seed, but again, he didn't wrestle 2 due to snow. It would be insane if he isn't the top seed, but again, you just never know. Dennis has only lost to 3 people this year, 1 of them is ranked 7th in the country, 1 is a defending NCWA national champ, and one is another nationally noted wrestler. If he has his head straight, he can really do it this year!
We are also counting on Keith Jaworski and JP Welch to make some upsets, and if they can win one or two matches along with our sophomores wrestling to their seeds or better, we have a legit shot at taking 5th, which would be our highest finish ever in the Conference.
Conference starts at 10am this Saturday at Stevens Tech.
