We played scramble format, winners received nothing but bragging rights. For the first 9 holes, the teams were myself and John, and Franke and Rob. It was a tight race, with Terrin pulling off some great shots. John had some monster drives that put my team in a great position to put up some good scores. Unfortunately, so did Coach Franke, and it came down to putting almost every hole.
Here was probably the best shot I had all day, sticking my drive 6 feet from the pin on a very difficult par 3. Unfortunately, we missed the putt and halved the hole. After staging a furious comeback from 3 down, Franke and Rob had it all tied up going into the 9th hole. John and Franke crushed their drives, but I got lucky and put a decent chip onto the green, and John stuck a 10 foot putt to win the front 9 by one.
Here are the winners of the front 9, myself and John Christopher, or Team Heavy as we liked to call ourselves.
The back 9 was a completely different story, as John and Coach Franke teamed up, and Rob and I had no answer for their 300+ yd. drives. I'm saying it must have been the thin air as we were playing at around 2,000 ft.
To the right is a picture of John and Coach looking to hit the green in 2, while Rob and I are already laying 3.
Here's Coach waiting for his tee shot; he may be short, but the man can crush a golf ball! Rob and I quickly fell behind 4 holes to none before we won the 14th. That would be my team's only highlight of the back 9 as Team long ball continued to dominate us off the tees.
This is one of my favorite pictures. Picture yourself here attending college. Who could seriously look at this and choose to go to college in a city??? Madness for sure.
Well John and Coach won the back 9 in impressive fashion, winning 8 of 9 holes. Either way, we all had a great time and were just happy to be out in the sun on a beautiful day! We will definitely miss John and Rob's leadership of a very young team last year, but we also know they are moving on to bigger things and we wish them the best as they pursue their professional careers.
A victorious Coach Franke and John Christopher.
